Walnut Apple Tart

My husband is fond of any treat featuring apples, this walnut pie is the one everyone like best. Unlike some fruit pies, this crust doesn't become soggy, thanks to the addition of walnuts. Everyone agrees the flavor of nuts pairs well with apples.

I'm  sure your Guests will be wowed by this Gorgeous Apple Tart with a toasty Walnut Crust and a silky sweet Maple Custard filling.

Ingredients You need For the Walnut Crust:

2 cups walnut pieces
5 tablespoons unsalted butter chilled and cubed
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 egg whites
pinch of salt.

Method of Walnut tart crust: In a food  processor, combine all the ingredients and pulse until the dough resembles coarse meal. Remove from the processor and use your hands to form a dough. Press evenly into the bottom and sides of a greased tart pan. Bake for about 15-20 minutes, until it is lightly brown. Let cool before filling.

For the Maple Custard:
4 eggs  white
1 cup milk
1/2 cup maple syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions: In a medium bowl, whisk egg whites, with the maple syrup. Slowly pour milk over the egg mixture while whisking. Place the mixture into a pot and place over low heat. Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture comes to a bubble and became very thick. Stir  in the vanilla extract and chill for 3-4 hours.

For Rose Apple:

Take 2-3 apples, quartered, cored, and thinly sliced (keep in lemon water) to prevent browning.  Half cup Apricot jam.

Directions for Tart: Spread the custard in the walnut tart. Roll a slice of apple into a spiral and stand it up vertically in custard. Continue to arrange apple slices in a concentric pattern, around the first one, building a rose pattern.Warm the apricot jam mix it with lemon juice. Brush this glaze over the apples for shine. Bake for 10-15 minutes in oven.
