Baked Moong Dal Tikki

No oil, no butter, just baked.

During a busy morning, it's easy to let breakfast fall low in your list of priorities, but taking just a few minutes to have something to eat can really make a difference to your day. To try something different I tried my  Grandmother's recipe, moong dal tikki, but, I didn't use oil or butter and choose to steam moong dal instead of boil to make this recipe, but it comes real good. Moong dal combine with just three ingredients to make a fibre and protein rich snack that will satisfy the food lover and health freak in you. These tikkis are quite filling, and if used to make burgers, can end up as a snacky meal.

Ingredients:

1 Cup  yellow moong dal (split yellow gram).
2-3  tablespoons Sooji (Semolina)
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1 tablespoon fresh grated ginger
Salt

Directions:

(i)Clean yellow moong dal , wash ,  keep in a bowl and  place on steam tray of rice cooker and close the lid. Remove immediately after cooking process has completed.

(ii) Now in a medium size bowl, combine steamed moong dal, salt , red chili powder, grated ginger and mashed properly by using your hand. Make tikki out of this mixture.

(iii) In a separate plate, put sooji (semolina) and roll each tikki through semolina. Allow them to dry, then repeat to ensure the entire surface of the tikki is coated.

(iv) Bake at pre-heated oven at 150 C for 10 ten minutes or untill light golden brown.
Serve with your own choice of dip / sauce.
