Cottage cheese or paneer with pineapple sauce which are sweet and sour in taste is out of this world. Cottage cheese can be made in various ways, either as a dry or with gravy. Cottage cheese is a perfect addition for mac and cheese, enchiladas, lasagna, baked ziti , and more.
Cottage cheese or paneer is an ingredient which is very popular in Indian cuisine specially among vegetarians. Paneer is often made on festive occasions, it can be combined with veggies like with peas, mushrooms, capsicum ,potatoes or with spinach which are very common version of cooking paneer in India.
For evening dinner, today I tried something new to cook paneer for vegetarian guests ,when I saw pineapple in pantry. I made in a very simple way and I'll be honest and say it tastes too good.
This is again one of my oil free recipe cooked with just few ingredients. Cottage cheese with sweet and tangy sauce.
Ingredients:
500 grams cottage cheese / paneer
For pineapple sauce
1 pineapple, peeled and chopped
1/2 cup jaggery / honey
2 tablespoons red chili powder
Salt to taste
Directions:
Cut cottage cheese into square or rectangular size.
In a non stick pan place slices of cottage cheese and fry for about 2 minutes on each side and keep aside.
In a blender, place pineapple pieces and blend it until you get puree texture.
Heat a non stick pan and pour pineapple puree , add jaggery or honey, salt and red chili powder and cook for about 10-15 minutes.
In a pan, place a pieces of cottage cheese and pour pineapple sauce over it.
Serve it with butter nan, chappati, bread , or with pulao, plain rice. Must try recipe for vegetarians.
