Rose veggie tart

The word tart is usually refers to sweet dessert, but tarts mean more then that. The tarts can be filled with not just sweet somethings, but also with savoury stuff. I made this rose vegetable tart long back it was saved in draft,  today I post here. I love art so doing something with food in an artisctic way is my favourite time pass. This is a complete visual treat to your eyes with delicious taste of cheese and scintillating veggies.

A stunning savoury tart filled with veggie goodness and cheese  will not only surprise your guests, this simple tart is perfect for entertaining outdoors too. There is nothing like warming tart with a golden crust and delicious filling. This is perfect meat free comfort food. 






INGREDIENTS:

Pastry sheets ( store bought / home made)

2 cups cottage cheese / paneer

1/2 cup cheddar cheese

2 eggs

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tablespoons english mustard

1 tablespoon olive oil


Vegetables: To make roses, size of veggies should be big.

2 Zucchini,

2 potatoes,

2 eggplants

2 carrots,

DIRECTIONS:

First wash the vegetables,  remove the ends and dry. Then slice them thinly into long stripes.

In a mixing bowl, combine cottage cheese, eggs, shredded mozzarella cheese, salt and pepper to taste.

Take a round shaped bakung tray, place a pastry sheet on parchment paper.

Now spread english mustard on base. Pour cheese mixture on top of it.

Roll up slices of vegetables like a rose ( bake vegetable slices for 4 to 5 minutes to softem them) and put them on cream mixture. Sprinkle olive oil on top of vegetable roses.



Cover the tart with foil and bake at 180 degree C for 30 minutes.

Remove from oven and sprinkle salt and pepper before you serve.
