Malai Methi Peas ( Creamed Peas )

Being a vegetarian , there are ample ways of making dishes with fresh or frozen vegetables. I wanted to make peas with cream so, I took to my  own creativity and came up with this absolutely fabulous recipe. Our food was pretty plain during the week,this cream made the peas extra fancy and make your meal super yummy. My husband love it so much we have this on the side quite often




Peas and cream are a classic holiday duo. Relying on frozen ones, is a smart move on a busy day of cooking by using few ingredients  you most likely have. This recipe is so easy to make, it's a basic roux with peas. Dried herbs can be used to enhance aroma of a simple dish.






INGREDIENTS :

2 cups peas, fresh or frozen
1/2 cup cream
1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
2 onions, paste
1 teaspoon red chili powder
Salt
Pinch of turmeric
1 tablespoon butter
2 tablespoons dried fenugreek leaves



METHOD :

In a skillet over medium heat, add butter, now add onion paste and stir well. When onion paste become light brown add ginger garlic paste and fry for another minute. Add peas and stir continuously, now add salt, pinch of turmeric, red chili powder and cook for few minutes.In the meantime add fenugreek leaves and stir it.

When peas are almost cooked, pour cream and cook for another minute . Remove from gas stove and pour another spoon of cream on top.




Serve it with roti, butter nan  or steamed rice !!
