French beans with coconut

The aroma of roasted coconut and crunch of french beans will make your vegeterian meal more amazing.  French beans cooked with coconut is a fresh delicious, healthy  Indian side dish which is an easy and exciting preparation that goes well with both rotis and steamed rice.

This recipe is also known as Poriyal in South Indian coconut stir fry with french beans or other veggies. The super tasty and tempting coconut beans fry in low heat. 




INGREDIENTS :

250 grams french beans 

1/2 cup coconut, grated

1 teaspoon red chili powder

1 onion, chopped

Salt 

1 teaspoon split chickpeas ( Chana dal )

Salt 

Oil for cooking


METHOD :

Wash freanch beans properly, remove the stalks from both the sides. Cut into medium size. 

In a skillet, heat oil, splutter split chickpeas ( chana daal ) in it, add chopped onion and saute for a while. Now add chopped french beans, salt and red chili powder. 

Mix well. Cover it and cook for 4 to 5 minutes. Remove cover and stir it well. Once beans are cooked through and crunchy, add grated coconut and cook for another few minutes. 


Now beans are ready to serve.
