Til Chicken ( Sesame seeds Chicken )



Til chicken , chicken cooked with til/sesame seeds recipe is one of the authentic delicacy of Assamese community. The chicken is slathered in black sesame seeds paste , unlike any chicken dish you have ever savored. I am pretty much sure that the flavors will definitely blow up  your taste buds. 





As we all are aware of  medicinal value of sesame seeds which is abundant in calcium and zinc and most importantly enriched with anti-ageing powers, Sesame seeds is also highly recommended to increase breast milk for a nursing mom. You can add this sesame seeds  not only in chicken and fish curry, you can use as chutney too.  A generous slather of black sesame seeds paste . The rage of black pepper, the warmth of green chilies, the nutty flavor of  black  sesame seeds .This is just a comfort food at its sublime best. 





Ingredients:

500 chicken, bone-in pieces / boneless
4-5 tablespoons dry roasted black sesame seeds, powdered
3 onions, finely chopped

1/2 cup green peas ( optional )

2 bay leaves
5-6 garlic cloves,finely chopped
2-3 green chilies according to your taste
Pinch of turmeric
1 1/2  teaspoons black pepper powder
1 teaspoon cumin seeds powder 
Salt to taste
2 tablespoons mustard oil for cooking
1 tablespoon mustard oil for marination
1 teaspoon garam masala paste / powder

Method :


First wash the chicken pieces properly , now marinate with chopped onions, garlic, salt, turmeric, black pepper powder,  cumin powder, green
chilies and 1 tablespoon mustard oil and keep aside for an hour.


Heat oil in a skillet over high heat. Add bay leaves and marinated chicken, stir it well. Simmer the gas , cover it and cook for another 10 minutes. Remove the cover, stir it well and cook for another few minutes. 


When chicken is half cooked add dry roasted powdered  black sesame seeds, stir it continuously. Add a cup of water ,  cover it and cook till chicken is cooked properly. When it is cooked, add garam masala paste or powder and remove from gas.
