Apple Jalebi

Let's celebrate this Holi with Apple Jalebi !!




One of the most popular and traditional sweet "Jalebi" is the heart of Indian cuisines and festivals. Today let's share one different version of jalebi recipe, which is basically a twist to regular  jalebi, prepared by using apple, all purpose flour, saffron , sugar and ghee. Its very easy to make, delicious and a fruity flavor from apple blends very well and make this sweet more rich to celebrate any occasion. 




Apple is the star ingredient which is not only healthy , it enhance the taste too. This will be a bonus for every sweet lover in occasions. 



You can try this dessert recipe in kitty parties, dinner parties, birthday parties and can offer to kids too . For jalebi , batter need to be fermented but here I’m using curd to make instant jalebi. I got this idea of making jalebi from my instant apple fritters recipe which is a Himachali dessert use apple as a main ingredient. Try out this Apple jalebi which will be ready within not more than 30 minutes.

Ingredients:

2 Apples
1 cup all purpose flour / maida 
1 cup curd
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Clarified butter / Ghee for frying or vegetable oil 

For syrup 
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 cups water
Few saffron strands

For garnishing :
Almond flakes
Silver leaf

Method :

In a medium size bowl, mix  all purpose flour, curd, baking soda. Now make a batter like cake batter. Add water if needed. Rest it for 10 minutes.  

Make sugar syrup by adding water, sugar and saffron in a saucepan. Make it little thick ( two string consistency ) .

Cut the apples into roundels, scoop out the seeds . Dip the apple slices into the batter  and deep fry in hot ghee or oil over low flame till they are light golden colour. Remove from oil and soak them in syrup for a minute or two . Do not dip the fried apples in sugar syrup for too long, otherwise it will turn soggy.

Take them out from the syrup and garnish with chopped nuts and silver leaf to give a fancy look.
